What is a Doula?

The word “Doula” is an ancient Greek word meaning ‘woman caregiver’

My philosophy

I believe that every birth experience should be something you look forward to with excitement and not fear. I believe in trusting the process of birth, I believe that your body is made to birth a baby, and most importantly I believe in you and your whatever your intuition is telling you is the right choice for you and your baby. Whatever choice you feel is best for you, your baby and family I be there to support you.

I believe in education and that knowledge is power. That is why I work hard to deliver evidence based information to you so that you can make the best informed decision for your family. I also believe in self care. When you take time to practice self care prenatally, it sets you up for a better birth and postpartum recovery.

When your labor and birth story begins, that is when all of the hard work we do prenatally really pays off.

Home: About Me

What started my journey to become a birth worker?

I have always been fascinated with the miracle of life. How a woman's body can grow a human and birth. It is an amazing process of the woman's body. I have worked in the medical field since 2009, working alongside doctors and helping to care for many pregnant women and their babies. After experiencing a traumatic birth with my 2nd child, I just knew there had to a better way,  with less pain and more support. That is when I decided that I wanted to be what I needed in that labor and delivery room.  I want to educated women of their options, empower them to use their voice and to support them through every step of their journey into motherhood in anyway that you may need me to.    I truly see every pregnancy and birth as a miracle and as a doula I feel honored to have been called to be in this line of work.

Testimonials

"Trista is my labor angel! If you plan for anything with your birth, plan for a doula. She was intuitive on my needs in labor- she brought a calm presence, and she worked quickly with all my needs. Trista is amazing!"

K.A.

Trista is absolutely amazing at what she does! I’d recommend her to everyone that’s looking for a doula. I truly believe she is what got me through my last labor. My labor came on so hard and fast that I wasn’t sure I was going to make it without meds but in swoops Supergirl with her mad doula skills and gets me into positions to help make it so my contractions weren’t so unbearable! If anyone has the opportunity to have a doula in the room don’t even think twice, just do it! Not only do they help you with pain but they also help you use your voice when you’re not in a position mentally to use your own. Trista helped with that as well, the nurses kept putting me into positions that weren’t the best and she pushed them to use things that they didn’t even offer. I just love Trista and I’m sad I won’t be having anymore babies because I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side (except my husband of course).

B.A.

Trista was an amazing doula to have by my side when I brought my daughter into the world. When I went into early labor for an entire day she kept checking on me to ensure all was well and was giving me tips to either relax if I wanted or to help bring on active labor. As soon as I went into active labor she made it there so quickly to be by my side. She did everything possible to make ensure I was relaxed and had anything I wanted or needed. She helped to keep my head clear and to stay in tune with my body and baby during every single contraction so I could reach my goal of having a natural birth. Trista is very knowledgeable and was the best support. She made me feel so comfortable and confident during my labor. I couldn't imagine giving birth to my sweet baby without her support and love.

M.A.

Trista is amazing she took the time to hear my previous birth experience and what birth plan I wanted with my current pregnancy! She was so attentive and helpful! She helped me realize it’s my choice as to how I wanted my birth experience to be! I had a lot of concerns with what my doctor was recommending and not wanting to follow my birth plan. Trista helped me to stay strong and have the courage to express to my provider what I wanted. She provided me some really helpful and eye opening information! I can’t tell you enough how amazing Trista is and how much I recommend her to help you through this birth experience, you will not be disappointed! After my son was born, she helped me with some self love techniques. I never realized how little i was attentive to my own needs. Her techniques and advice was extremely helpful! I learned to appreciate making time for myself, and was so much happier for myself and my family!

A.E.

Trista has been so amazing with questions I had during my pregnancy as well as after I had my son! She was so helpful and would even send me articles to read! She is so knowledgeable and willing to help ! When I wanted to try a VBAC with my son and I had tons of questions she would tell me things I could ask my doctor to make it easier for me to decide and she was not even my doula ! She’s an amazing women
